How your USDC is calculated

USDC is pegged to the dollar, not the euro. That's why we always go through USD first — then it's 1:1.

USDC

1:1 to USDC

USD credits as USDC 1:1, backed by Circle. Your balance stays stable.

Live example

1,000 EUR · at the current ECB rate · ≈ 1,087 USD · → 1,087 USDC in your balance.

Note: the diagram shows only the 1:1 exchange rate to USDC. Receiving and sending money on Kunga also applies a percentage fee on the amount — see fees.

No spread — so what's the model?

Fair question. Short answer: we earn on the visible transfer fee, not on a hidden FX margin.

What we charge

  • Variable fee per operation, visible before confirming.
  • Simple percentage fee per transfer.
  • Network gas on crypto sends (paid by the user, no markup).

What we DON'T charge

  • Hidden spread on the exchange rate.
  • Maintenance fees or minimum balance.
  • Inactivity or account closure fees.

FAQ

Do you really not apply a margin?

Correct. The rate we use is the market rate at the time of the trade. Our fee is separate and transparent: 1.45% if you use a Kunga wallet and 2.90% if you choose an external wallet.

How is the 1:1 with USDC guaranteed?

USDC is a stablecoin backed 1:1 by dollars and short-term treasury bonds issued by Circle (regulated in the US). Each USDC you receive is backed by 1 USD in reserve.

What about currencies like MXN or BRL?

They convert at the market rate vs USD and then to USDC, with no Kunga spread on top.

How long does the conversion take?

Instant for crypto. For fiat, it runs as soon as the local rail clears the inbound (seconds on Pix, minutes on SEPA Instant, same business day on ACH/SPEI).
